STOPzilla Review
About STOPzilla
StopZilla is a spyware and adware blocker. It was first developed in 2001 by iS3, a Florida company that became incorporated in 1991. The developers wanted to offer a piece of technology that would allow people to surf the internet for both pleasure and business without leaving their systems open to threats without costing them a bunch of money. The technology itself is the standard by which many other anti-spyware and anti-adware programs are measured. StopZilla itself is used in more than sixty countries and has been used by more than ten million people.
What Does It Do?
StopZilla is designed to find quarantine and, eventually, get rid of spyware and adware. It features automatic spyware scanning and on demand spyware scanning. The software updates automatically and prevents attacks from botnet, gets rid of root kits and even kills hijacks attempted on your browser. StopZilla blocks phishing attacks and protects users against websites that it deems malicious. One of the best features of this software is the free access to customer support. If you need to contact customer support you can call (toll free!), e-mail or even have a live web-based chat with a representative. This means that StopZilla keeps you protected while not hindering your web browsing.
How Much Does It Cost?
StopZilla offers a free trial download, but to really reap the benefits of this software, you need to purchase a license. $19.95 will give you a one year subscription to the software, any upgraded versions, all definition updates and unlimited customer support. A two year subscription to the program costs $49.95 and a three year subscription costs $69.95. Buyers also have the option to adding The Shield Deluxe 2008 advanced anti-virus protection to the package for an additional $19.95 as well as a PC Tune-Up program which also costs $19.95.
The Verdict?
While the software itself promises to be marvelous, all of the other reviews we’ve read have said that the program is not worth downloading. It only has a two star rating on CNet, one of the authorities in software reviews. The program is hard to install and doesn’t pick up spyware as well as other programs do. It is also very difficult to uninstall in the event that you decide not to use it anymore. While we understand that you need to protect your computer, it is probably in your best interest to move on to another, more reputable program.
